Single On Valentines Day?

Are you single on Valentines Day? Well... here's 10 different ways to have a happy celebration.

1. Do not define yourself by your relationship status. Your relationship status is not your identity.

2. If you are single because of a recent loss, allow this to be a day of grieving. Do not pretend that it’s not a hard day. Get support and sympathy.

3. Realize that Valentine’s Day is a commercial holiday. It is not about love and relationships; it is about selling flowers, candy, and diamond jewelry. Think of all the money you are saving.

4. Plan well in advance to do something that will not place you in the path of billing and cooing couples. Even if you usually like dining out alone, do something else on Valentine’s Day.

5. Get together with people who do love you -- friends, family members, the people who already have relationships with you.

6. If you are single and you don’t want to be, start now to think about what is in the way of you creating the relationship you want. Find ways to work on becoming the person your dream partner would fall in love with. Start therapy. Take up yoga. Begin to volunteer. Create art. Make meaning. Act to change the world. It is into the fullest lives that love is most likely to fall.

7. If you are single and you like it, now is the time to affirm your choice. People who never marry or partner have close, loving, emotionally intimate relationships and lives worth living. Do not let a couple-driven culture define your choice as something wrong.

8. Go out to dinner and a movie with a group of other singles.

9. Focus on what you enjoy and make a conscious decision about how to mark the day.

10.Un-Valentine's Day parties are very popular and can be a lot of silly fun. You can attend one or throw one of your own.

Pushing Platinum Reduces Pollution.

With all the millions and millions of cars on the road we should thank your lucky stars that there is such a thing called a catalytic converter. For without catalytic converters our city's is would be virtually unlivable.

Today's catalytic converters do their jobs very well which is to virtually eliminate carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons and nitrous oxide., and this is in direct correlation with the amount of platinum group metals that are within the catalytic converter itself. Platinum, palladium and rhodium make up the platinum group metals with platinum being the most efficient for today’s cars.

Depending on the amount that's in you converter you may end you getting $5,000 per ounce.

I found all of this information out when my cars' Catalytic Converter was stolen Saturday. Here are several factors that go into cleaning a car exhaust with the catalytic converter.

1. The amount of precious metal in the catalytic converter. Naturally the more precious metal in a converter the better it will clean the exhaust. However not all precious metals are created equal for instance it takes twice as much palladium then platinum to do the same amount cleaning.

2. Location of the Catalytic Converters. Catalytic converters only works properly when it is heated to approximately to 700 Fahrenheit, which is why a car will produce 80 percent of its pollution in the first three minutes after it is started. The catalytic converter has not warmed up yet and can not work properly. Some manufacturers have tried to put to the catalytic converter as close to the exhuast manifold as possible some even creating what is called a "manifold converter" by either completely being a part of the manifold or bolted onto the manifold in an effort to clean the exhaust quickly by being closer to the engines heat.

3. There are Oxygen sensor place before and after a catalytic converter that work in tandem with your on board computer and if either of these are defective then the converter will not work properly usually from to rich of a mixture from you engine.

Anna Nicole Smith, Dead At 39

Through the tabloid story that was called her life was short lived as of yesterday Thursday, February 8th 2007. It was said the she just collapsed onto the hotel floor and simply never got back up. I wish I could say what really happened to her but there's a big hush, hush about it for the time being.

If you all recall her 20 year old son (Daniel) suddenly died from what was said to be a drug related causes when he was in the Bahamas. He died just five months ago.

I don't know what all happened but it maybe had something to do with the recently inheireted money that she received.

Both of their deaths just seem to close together for there not to be some type of fowl play. So who is the sole heir of the Smith fortune!?

Outstanding questions include not only the paternity of her daughter (Dannielynn) , but if she died with a will and how her death will affect the lawsuit pending against the Marshall estate. It also wasn't clear where she legally lived when she died.

These Are The "American Idol Judges"?

Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul, and Simon Cowell. Not trying to say anything bad about them but just wanting to voice my opinion on who should or would be more qualified.
Let's look at Randy Jackson first shall we.

Randy Jackson was for one as we all know a one hit wonder. He as claims himslf as a creditable record producer but I haven't heard anything from his so called lable that has hit the top ten charts. As far as calling himself a judge to me it shouldn't be. Due to the fact that a judge is an individual with their own thought process on who they are judging and to me Randy Jackson is not that person. A "yes man" does not have their own opinion they agree with what someone else says... all the time.

Next... let's look at Paula Abduls' track record. She has had a few hits... it was some time ago but it was a few hits. Afterwards I really haven't heard anything else about her"as far as music goes". I must admit she does have a personal inside look at what the contestants are going through in order to make it big but I question her judgement, due to the fact of her passing on some very good "prospects" just because of the majority vote. "Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson". Her other personal business well.... that's her on to deal with I have nothing to say about someone elses inside life. "This is an opinion from a business aspect".

Last but not least is Simon Cowell. To me he is pressured to be the calus of the three. The producers sense that he has that type of personality to give the truth about things. Sometimes in a blunt but professional manner and they probably tell him to be more insulting, more obnoxious just because it sales the show or sales him. I bet he thinks back on some of the things that he knows he didn't have to say. But hey..... the money!? Just becuase of that pressure from "the higher up ladder" he misses out on great talents or gift within alot of the contestants because he just has to belittle people as many times as possilbe within the shows time "he's told too". On top of that I've never heard about him in the american music industry away.

The Battle Between Cox, Dish Network and DirecTV

Now I've had both (DirecTV and Cox Communications) as far as what both companies show on their programming to me it's very similar between the two but when it comes to PPV I must admit that DirecTV has the most selection hands down along with more channels to view just because it's satellite TV. Now on the other hand Cox is better by far with continuos programming without errors such as blackouts because of the ground wiring system that they have set-up.

So if you are trying to weigh the options of DirecTV, Cox, or Dish Network there are a few things that should be taken into consideration. DirecTV and Dish Network has alot more HD channels but additional cost plus hey the PPV is 100% better to me. Cox well... what can I say they have the monopoly on the fastest internet service available and way less blackouts and both can provide a bundle package. Also the rumor is that their HD channels are at no additional cost.

EchoStar Communications/Dish Network must stop selling out-of-market station feeds of ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox programming to 800,000 subscribers, according to a nationwide injunction issued by U.S. District Judge William P. Dimitrouleas in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Because of this matter I would not recommend Dish Network at all.

Now there is the option of other companies but at this point and time I wouldn't recommend them.

So if pricing is the issue that do some research to see what best fits your pocketbook. If it's the quality of programming that you are looking for and you are not worried about the price of the bundle packaging then once again you have to see what best suits you.

HD DVD Drive

The new HP Pavilion now has a HD DVD drive that is priced at a pretty penny ($2080). The Pavilion Media Center TV m7690n also includes a TV tuner for recording television showa and movies. The computers second optical drive is a Toshiba SDH802A HD DVD Rom drive which can read HD DVD movie discs the only bummer is you have to run the included HD application seperately, it isn't intergrated with the Media center software. On top of all that it has a 22 inch LCD monitor. The picture is o.k. but to me it is alittle small for the price. This is just my opinion but if the driver was better intergrated maybe just maybe I would pay the request pretty penny that the corporation is asking.

Ash Wednesday?

Lent is about mortality and transformation. We begin the season of Lent on Ash Wednesday with the sign of the cross smeared on our foreheads with ashes as the words are spoken over us, "Dust thou art, and to dust thou wilt return." We begin this season of Lent not only reminded of our death, but also marked for death.
The Lenten journey, with its climax in Holy Week and Good Friday and Easter, is about participating in the death and resurrection of Jesus. Put somewhat abstractly, this means dying to an old identity—the identity conferred by culture, by tradition, by parents, perhaps—and being born into a new identity—an identity centered in the Spirit of God. It means dying to an old way of being, and being born into a new way of being, a way of being centered once again in God.
Put slightly more concretely, this path of death and resurrection, of radical centering in God, may mean for some of us that we need to die to specific things in our lives—perhaps to a behavior or a pattern of behavior that has become destructive or dysfunctional; perhaps to a relationship that has ended or gone bad; perhaps to an unresolved grief that needs to be let go of; perhaps to a career or job that has either been taken from us or that no longer nourishes us; or perhaps even we need to die to a deadness in our lives.
You can even die to deadness, and this dying is also oftentimes a daily rhythm in our lives—that daily occurrence that happens to some of us as we remind ourselves of the reality of God in our relationship to God; that reminder that can take us out of ourselves, lift us out of our confinement, take away our feeling of being burdened and weighed down.

Happy New Years (Old School Style)

It's Another New Year...

...but for what reason?

"Happy New Year!" That greeting will be said and heard for at least the first couple of weeks as a new year gets under way. But the day celebrated as New Year's Day in modern America was not always January 1.

ANCIENT NEW YEARS:

The celebration of the new year is the oldest of all holidays. It was first observed in ancient Babylon about 4000 years ago. In the years around 2000 BC, the Babylonian New Year began with the first New Moon (actually the first visible cresent) after the Vernal Equinox (first day of spring).

The beginning of spring is a logical time to start a new year. After all, it is the season of rebirth, of planting new crops, and of blossoming. January 1, on the other hand, has no astronomical nor agricultural significance. It is purely arbitrary.

The Babylonian new year celebration lasted for eleven days. Each day had its own particular mode of celebration, but it is safe to say that modern New Year's Eve festivities pale in comparison.

A New Maaaannnnnnn......

Less than a month since her decision to separate from Kevin Federline, Britney Spears, 25, has a new man in her life, Jonathan JR Rotem, a South Africa born American record producer.
Rotem has produced tracks for artists and groups such as The Game, Destiny’s Child, Britney Spears (Everybody (2000), Who Can She Trust (2000)), Snoop Dogg among others.

He is the co-owner of the record label, Beluga Height, launched in 2006. The label signed up Sean Kingston, a young Miami-based rapper recently.

Spears and Rotem were spotted last night going to a movie at the Groove by the x17online camera crew. They then grabbed a bite at The 3rd Stop in West Hollywood where they were observed to be canoodling. A lot of fondness and intimacy was evident during their stay there. Spears, provocatively attired in a short red dress, could be seen sitting on Rotem’s lap kissing him.

The fact that it wasn’t an ordinary dinner out became obvious when following the dinner the two went to Rotem’s apartment at 3 am and Spears was not observed to leave the rest of the night.

First Snow of the Season... What a doosey!

The season's first big wintry storm blustered across the Midwest on Friday and closed in on the Northeast, leaving hundreds of thousands without electricity, stranding airline passengers and burying streets in wet, heavy snow. The storm was blamed for at least eight deaths as it cut a swath from Texas to the Northeast, bringing snow, freezing rain and high winds, and closing schools and businesses. The East Coast saw rain, thundershowers and high winds late Friday, with damaging gusts up to 55 mph expected as the cold front passed. Ameren Corp . reported about 520,000 customers without power in Illinois and Missouri on Friday after ice and snow blanketed much of the state, snapping power lines and tree limbs. Ron Zdellar, Ameren vice president, said it would be days before all customers had electricity again. "We know a lot of people are going to have to leave their homes, probably over the next few days," he said. Part of a roof collapsed at a Peoria nursing home Friday evening, causing minor injuries, police said. The snow may have been a factor. Missouri Gov. Matt Blunt declared a state of emergency and deployed National Guard members to help people in need. More than 200 were to be in the St. Louis area by Saturday morning, and 500 others were available if needed around the state. Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius declared a disaster emergency for 27 counties. Shelters and warm-up centers opened in the St. Louis area, with temperatures expected to drop into the teens. Two St. Louis police officers escorted 89-year-old Francis Oldani on Friday afternoon to a warming center, where volunteers offered lunch and hot chocolate. Oldani said she lost power Thursday night and called police in desperation Friday morning. "It was miserable; I was so cold," Oldani said. "I just had to put on as many clothes as I could. I put a blanket around me and sat in a chair. I guess these people will provide for me. I really don't know." The fire chief in the St. Louis suburb of Affton said an 87-year-old woman died early Friday in a house fire that started after an ice-laden tree limb fell on a power line, causing the fuse box in her basement to short-circuit. In Chicago, where snow covered street signs and commuters walked gingerly along slushy streets, forecasters warned residents to be careful digging out of what they called "heart attack snow" - difficult to shovel because it is so heavy. A man died Friday afternoon after shoveling snow in Racine, Wis., which got up to got 14.5 inches, officials said. Chicago received 6.2 inches, and many areas of Illinois, Wisconsin and Missouri got more than a foot. As the storm moved east, strong showers and gusty winds caused even more people to lose power. In Michigan's Lower Peninsula, more than 100,000 customers lost power at some point during the day, though many had power restored. In Tennessee, 38,000 Knoxville Utilities board customers lost power early Friday at the peak of the outages, and in West Virginia, more than 45,000 lost power at least temporarily. In central Kentucky, winds toppled a church steeple. The Forks of Dix River Baptist Church, near Lancaster, was damaged when the steeple and a "big, big chunk of the roof" was torn off, said the Rev. Jerry Browning. In New York, severe thunderstorms and high winds toppled trees and knocked out power to at least 65,500 customers outside the New York City area. One person died after a tree fell onto a house in Ellenville. The combination of sleet, rain and snow made driving treacherous in many areas. In Milwaukee, the slippery roads were too much for vehicle after vehicle - even a snowplow overturned. Near Paducah, Texas, a sport-utility vehicle carrying a high school girls' basketball team slid on an icy patch and tipped over, killing a 14-year-old player and injuring six teammates and the coach. The tournament the Paducah High School team was headed to was canceled. In Missouri, where two storm-related fatal accidents occurred Thursday, officials closed a 50-mile stretch of Interstate 70 for several hours Friday morning. Icy roads were also a factor in two other traffic deaths, one in Kansas on Wednesday and one Thursday in Oklahoma. Scores of cars and semitrailer trucks skidded off a 70-mile stretch of Interstate 80 in Illinois, bringing traffic to a standstill. The state used snowmobiles Friday evening to take food to motorists, Department of Transportation spokesman Mike Claffey said. The Midwest's nasty weather caused problems for travelers nationwide. United Airlines canceled 821 flights as of late afternoon Friday, according to company spokeswoman Robin Urbanski. "I understand things like this happen and I'm in tulsa so I know first hand.

The Users

Friends, family, countryman... lend me a dollar. That's all I heard over the holiday, as if I'm not on borderline broke myself. Everyone has that particular family member or "friend" that thinks you have the bank to give them or other resources that you have that may help them in some endevore that they a hatching up inside the norrow alleyway that they call the mind. Needless to say the rest of the holiday was cool. I had to work the rest of the holiday but I'm not the only one who had to do so. But that little encounter can be a small let down because they are not on the same level of thinking that you may be on such as showing up for the holidays for your family in best wishes for them and yourself to prosper and other family members that are there to so called prosper on thier behalh and your pocket book. The point is not to get so upset about it. When holidays come around and you know that this particular family member will arrive at the yearly functions (and they will), just make a game of it... pay attention to them and count how many people they asked throughout the function. See how many fall for it and see how many of your family members don't and when next your comes around see if the same people fall for it again or if they learned their listen at last years gathering. Believe me... this will become a game favorite at your next family get together. Happy holidays.

Public School Drama

For all of you that may have children I know at one point and time your child came to you and told you about someone in their class or school that has been messing with them from time to time or everyday. Well in this case my son is experiencing the same delimma.

Now my son is no saint but he is a good kid but this particular child that my son is having a problem with isn't your regular school bully, this child seems to have a problem with touch other little kids in the private areas. At least once a week my son would tell me about this kid but my son didn't go into full extent of what was going on until last week. I asked him why he didn't tell me this before and he said that he was to ashamed to tell me in detail which I understood. So I aksed him did he let his teacher know what was going on he told me that he would let his teacher know that this kid was messing with him and the teacher would just tell my son to get back in line or to be queit and finish what he was working on.

With this said I went up to the school to confront the issue and the first thing that came out of the teachers mouth was patronizism. When she did that it made my mind instantly flash back to my public school days and how the teachers back then really didn't differ from the teachers today which is very sad to me.

After my son, myself, the teacher and the little boy had a small meeting in the school hallway we all came to an understanding "I hope". The kids went back into class and so did the teacher and I turned around to leave as I was leaving I heard the teacher getting on my sons case about how he is not a saint either. The thing was the teacher thought I was gone, so I crept around the corner " I mean in straight stealth mode" and surprised her which made me even more anger because she was chestizing my son instead of correcting the matter at hand.

People... this is what's going on in our childerns schools and the teacher can give a danm about it, some never cared in the first place and other came into the teaching profession with all the heart and will to see a child develope into a promising adult and after years of being dragged through the school system themselves their passion for teaching has been exstinquised and replaced with half assed teaching methods, low pay scale, a crappy retirement, and year after year of class overflow and half of them are unruley childern.

This particular procces helps aid in low test scores in public schools along with turning a blind eye and ear to childern that a calling for help whether it's about school ciriculum or that one/group of kids that's making your childs school life a living hell for them.

What do you think of the Ab Lounge 2?

The "Ab Lounge 2" is great. Before I had my son I had 9% body fat. For a hieght of 5'9 and a weight of 134 lbs that is wonderful. While I was pregnant I ballooned up to 223 lbs. After I had my son I thought that I would natuarlly shed the exccess weight...wroooong. 6 years later and I was still over 200 lbs. As usual on a late night I was flipping through channels on my cable TV and seen the infomercial for the "Ab Lounge 2"... changed the channel and I didn't think twice about it. Woke up that next morning and behold the same infomercial was on. So I called customer service and ordered it. All the while I was thinking about how the "Ab Lounge 2" was going to become a decorative clothes rack like the rest of my exercise equipment. Well... it finally arrived and for 8 days I left it sitting in its orginal packaging. My son "now 7 yrs old" asked why I haven't opened my new exercise equipment yet... so I did, and haven't looked back since. I am now weighing in at 146 lbs and my abs look as though I never was pregnant. The best part about the equipment is that it supports your entire body, so those with back problems and want to get in shape should truely consider the " Ab Lounge 2" and on top of that it is very affordable. I want to thank the makers of "Ab Lounge 2" for helping me fill like me again.

With the illusion of combinding all of these items in what is referred as a "bundle package" it would seem as though money was being saved. After about 6 months of service with this particular company I notice a ridicious price spike in my monthly billing. Well as you'll would already presume, this prompted be to contact my previous provider of these services. The call to my previous provider lasted about 2 1/2 hours mostly due to the customer service process. Now I know better than most about customer service simply because that is my current occupation. With knowing the 1,2,3's of this process I expected some of the run around but with this company it was just a plain "I don't care" type of atmosphere and the thing is it was like that no matter what I may had been calling for. So after it was all said and done it to all the attitudes from front line customer service agents to a corporate exceutive by the "way was upset with me because I couldn't understand him clearly on the account of his deep accent" and constantly questioning me if I understood english. The crazy thing was I understood the billing and why there was a price change but the chain of command was so unprofessional and how they expressed that I will just have to get us to the fact that they will be hiking up the price of these services every 6 months or so. Honestly, because of the customer service chain of command that was the main reason for switching my provider. If I felt that the pricing of my services were to high I could have easily just reduced some of my service and the company would still have my business, but rudeness on the companies behalf is why most accounts churn happens.
