Bling'd: Blood, Diamonds and Hip Hop

"Bling'd: Blood, Diamonds, and Hip Hop" is an upcoming film that takes a hard-hitting look at the illegal diamond trade in Sierra Leone, West Africa and how "blinging" in the flashy world of commercial hip-hop played a role in the 11-year civil war, which ended in 2002. The war was perpetuated largely by of a group of genocidal rebels, supported by Liberia, and primarily funded by the illegal trading of conflict diamonds or "blood" diamonds. The rebels sought to control the country's diamond mines and then traded the stones for money and arms in order to fund the war. Blood diamonds are a challenge not only in Sierra Leone, but in several West African countries, where miners often earn less than a dollar a day and peace and security remain elusive.

In "Bling'd" three hip-hop celebrities-- Paul Wall, Raekwon (of Wu Tang Clan), and reggaetón king Tego Calderon --will visit Sierra Leone. In the capital of Freetown, these hip-hop stars will meet their contemporaries, refugees and former child soldiers living in the country. They will hear first-hand accounts of the atrocities suffered at the hands of the rebels that included rape, torture and amputation. They'll witness how Sierra Leone citizens are trying to rise from the ruins of conflict and improve their living conditions.

In the U.S., Kanye West, Jadakiss as well as other luminaries will weigh in on how hip-hop can redefine the diamond culture and the consequences of that embrace. Along with their insight, the film will be interspersed with testimonials, factoids and graphic images of those directly affected by the diamond trade. "Bling'd" will capture hip-hop's reaction to the human violations, bring global awareness to this issue and educate Americans about how they can play a role in eradicating the smuggling of blood diamonds simply by becoming conscious consumers and responsible global citizens by demanding "clean" diamonds.

But let's be for real this has been happening way before hip hop, way before the majority of black folks even had the money to splurg in such a way.

We can thank Hollywood, top world designers, models, government officals, the rich and infamous.... the list goes on and on.

The first showing already aired on February 22,2007 at 8:00 (CST) but you can catch the next airing of the eye-opening documentary on Sunday February 25, 2007 at 8:00 (CST).

Help Yourself, Inform Yourself

I'm glad I was able to look at this one. It's very informative and on a number of different consolidations. Consolidations about your student loans, mortgage, tax debt and the list goes on.

I'm not in Tax Debt but it's good to know some of the senarios that were stated . If you can recall in an earlier post I stated that I am doing the 1099 thing (I'm self-employed) and it was getting a little confusing on what had to be done in order to come out on the clean side of the IRS.

Secure Loans Consolidation explained every thing from tax relief forms and even more on tax laws that applied to me and they also let me know that I needed to start the process of filling out forms to pay quarterly taxes or I may get fined.

Save yourself some time and gain so useful money tips.

Glamorously Broken

It's a shame what we do to make ourselves look and feel good. Not saying anything about myself but I'm not excluded either. Just saying that we can all be guilty of vanity but sometimes it just goes way to far with some people.

Sometimes I can almost sw*** that I can smell the empty stinch of that persons jaded sole. Yeah I'm just venting alittle bit but with every right too.

So after this presented every stereo-type in the book, finished downing everyone that they know, and then putting themselves on a "stair way to heaven" pedestal they had the nerve to sing the song that your about to listen to.

On top of that... this person couldn't even remotely relate to the song. I asked this person if the know what the song was about, them completely missed the underline message that the song is stating. They just sung the song because in some delusional world that's how the see themselves.

I wonder.... if they can see how broken they really are.

So instead of doing a short and sharp rendition of "cursing them out in D minor"....I'll just let the song play.

Look at the exact lyrics at http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/fergie/glamorous.html and get the song here http://swaggaboyz.imeem.com/music/ob2E7Od6/glamorous/

Mint Credit Cards-The Return {PPP}

I took an extended and detailed look at Mint CC and upon the information I came across it is a pretty good deal. The Mint CC comes in the standard credit card form and the MC2.

Mint Credit Card
features include: 0% purchases until December 2007, 0% on balance transfers until December 2007, 0% bonus offer until 1st August 2008 on balance transfers debited to your account during February 2008 with a 209% fee. Now there is a typical 16.9% APR (VARIABLE). Other features include:

24 hour MINT Customer Service
Manage your account online
Shop online securely with MINT Secure
Up to 56 day interest-free period on purchases

This comes with a maximum credit limit of £7500. Now the MINT Classic Mc2 card is for UK residents aged 18 or over, earning at least £10,000. Sorry... existing cardholders are not eligible for these offers.

Now if you know anyone in the UK then this is would be great for a gift. The "MINT Gift Cards" have graet personalization features such as:

2.Can be used at most retailers worldwide, where Visa Electron is accepted.

3.You can personalise the card with a special message.

Deduct This?!

Now...if your self-employeed or just simply have your own home business you are able to deduct up $7500 "at least within the state Oklahoma". From the mesurements of your work area to the internet bill that has to be used everyday "if that's what you need in order to work".

Anything and I do mean anything that you have to buy for your work area can be deducted such as the ink for your printer, memory upgrades for your computer, the energy it takes to make sure everything runs properly to the brand new plush leather chair you just had to buy for the style and comfort of your office area.

The one thing is that all of those things must be specificly for the work area and nothing else.

I just had to let it be know to those that my not know the ends and outs of the 1099 tax prep and believe me that's just the tip of the iceberg.

Keep in mind that if you are within the guidelines of the 1099 tax form then you should always keep a record of all aplied deductions for at least 7 years "this is to save your own tail" due possible IRS audits. Now don't let this scare you, just keep all of your decution info filed properly and have it somewhere easy to find.

Internet Researching?

I have been what you would call an "experienced" internet user. For 6+ years I have been navigating through the internet. But... no matter how long a person has been " internet savvy"
researching the internet "no matter what you are searching for" takes a great deal of disipline and work to get exactly what you or whom ever you may be working for is wanting to know more about. There are many different programs and software that are being developed everyday to help with the time duration of internet researching. For sometime now I have been researching " Home Based Business ". It's safe to say that I found a great home based internet business after years of research, but in order for me to find it I had to come to a conclusion.... instead of the basic phrase for searching any subject, I decided to use specific key words and phrase in the usual search engines. The key to a successful search is to type what you are looking for in the form of a question and use the same content in different question form if the first did not work. There will still be work but a lot less time when doing so.

Big Money Opp {PPP}

I'm back at the keyboard to let those of you who don't know about PayPerPost be enlightened by some great money blogging info.

The difference with PPP is that they only charge a 35% service fee compared to ReviewMe and other blogging companies that charge more than the above 35% and even a 100% markup. Now tell me you don't want to take a look a PPP just to see what they offer and it's free. Until then I will tell you a little more about blog marketing.

For me and "I think I can safely say that for all others" PPP is a no hassle blog opportunity. You don't have to worry about meeting an impossible quota "you blog as much or as little as you like". This will give you the chance to express your writing abilities, thoughts, opinions and get paid for the things that you have always blogged about.

There are quite a few times where there are over 100 opp's per day to blog about. These are the things that you already know about or have used before.

There are additional ways to make more with PPP by participating in their affiliate program "Review My Post" and others. Those with a high traffic blogs can get in on what PayPerPost calls "Big Green". "Big Green" is just that. You can recieve $75, $100, or $1000 just for one post. Sweeeeeeeeet, and that's just a taste of what PayPerPost (PPP) has to offer.

Now doesn't that make you happy.

Single On Valentines Day?

Are you single on Valentines Day? Well... here's 10 different ways to have a happy celebration.

1. Do not define yourself by your relationship status. Your relationship status is not your identity.

2. If you are single because of a recent loss, allow this to be a day of grieving. Do not pretend that it’s not a hard day. Get support and sympathy.

3. Realize that Valentine’s Day is a commercial holiday. It is not about love and relationships; it is about selling flowers, candy, and diamond jewelry. Think of all the money you are saving.

4. Plan well in advance to do something that will not place you in the path of billing and cooing couples. Even if you usually like dining out alone, do something else on Valentine’s Day.

5. Get together with people who do love you -- friends, family members, the people who already have relationships with you.

6. If you are single and you don’t want to be, start now to think about what is in the way of you creating the relationship you want. Find ways to work on becoming the person your dream partner would fall in love with. Start therapy. Take up yoga. Begin to volunteer. Create art. Make meaning. Act to change the world. It is into the fullest lives that love is most likely to fall.

7. If you are single and you like it, now is the time to affirm your choice. People who never marry or partner have close, loving, emotionally intimate relationships and lives worth living. Do not let a couple-driven culture define your choice as something wrong.

8. Go out to dinner and a movie with a group of other singles.

9. Focus on what you enjoy and make a conscious decision about how to mark the day.

10.Un-Valentine's Day parties are very popular and can be a lot of silly fun. You can attend one or throw one of your own.

Pushing Platinum Reduces Pollution.

With all the millions and millions of cars on the road we should thank your lucky stars that there is such a thing called a catalytic converter. For without catalytic converters our city's is would be virtually unlivable.

Today's catalytic converters do their jobs very well which is to virtually eliminate carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons and nitrous oxide., and this is in direct correlation with the amount of platinum group metals that are within the catalytic converter itself. Platinum, palladium and rhodium make up the platinum group metals with platinum being the most efficient for today’s cars.

Depending on the amount that's in you converter you may end you getting $5,000 per ounce.

I found all of this information out when my cars' Catalytic Converter was stolen Saturday. Here are several factors that go into cleaning a car exhaust with the catalytic converter.

1. The amount of precious metal in the catalytic converter. Naturally the more precious metal in a converter the better it will clean the exhaust. However not all precious metals are created equal for instance it takes twice as much palladium then platinum to do the same amount cleaning.

2. Location of the Catalytic Converters. Catalytic converters only works properly when it is heated to approximately to 700 Fahrenheit, which is why a car will produce 80 percent of its pollution in the first three minutes after it is started. The catalytic converter has not warmed up yet and can not work properly. Some manufacturers have tried to put to the catalytic converter as close to the exhuast manifold as possible some even creating what is called a "manifold converter" by either completely being a part of the manifold or bolted onto the manifold in an effort to clean the exhaust quickly by being closer to the engines heat.

3. There are Oxygen sensor place before and after a catalytic converter that work in tandem with your on board computer and if either of these are defective then the converter will not work properly usually from to rich of a mixture from you engine.

Anna Nicole Smith, Dead At 39

Through the tabloid story that was called her life was short lived as of yesterday Thursday, February 8th 2007. It was said the she just collapsed onto the hotel floor and simply never got back up. I wish I could say what really happened to her but there's a big hush, hush about it for the time being.

If you all recall her 20 year old son (Daniel) suddenly died from what was said to be a drug related causes when he was in the Bahamas. He died just five months ago.

I don't know what all happened but it maybe had something to do with the recently inheireted money that she received.

Both of their deaths just seem to close together for there not to be some type of fowl play. So who is the sole heir of the Smith fortune!?

Outstanding questions include not only the paternity of her daughter (Dannielynn) , but if she died with a will and how her death will affect the lawsuit pending against the Marshall estate. It also wasn't clear where she legally lived when she died.

These Are The "American Idol Judges"?

Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul, and Simon Cowell. Not trying to say anything bad about them but just wanting to voice my opinion on who should or would be more qualified.
Let's look at Randy Jackson first shall we.

Randy Jackson was for one as we all know a one hit wonder. He as claims himslf as a creditable record producer but I haven't heard anything from his so called lable that has hit the top ten charts. As far as calling himself a judge to me it shouldn't be. Due to the fact that a judge is an individual with their own thought process on who they are judging and to me Randy Jackson is not that person. A "yes man" does not have their own opinion they agree with what someone else says... all the time.

Next... let's look at Paula Abduls' track record. She has had a few hits... it was some time ago but it was a few hits. Afterwards I really haven't heard anything else about her"as far as music goes". I must admit she does have a personal inside look at what the contestants are going through in order to make it big but I question her judgement, due to the fact of her passing on some very good "prospects" just because of the majority vote. "Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson". Her other personal business well.... that's her on to deal with I have nothing to say about someone elses inside life. "This is an opinion from a business aspect".

Last but not least is Simon Cowell. To me he is pressured to be the calus of the three. The producers sense that he has that type of personality to give the truth about things. Sometimes in a blunt but professional manner and they probably tell him to be more insulting, more obnoxious just because it sales the show or sales him. I bet he thinks back on some of the things that he knows he didn't have to say. But hey..... the money!? Just becuase of that pressure from "the higher up ladder" he misses out on great talents or gift within alot of the contestants because he just has to belittle people as many times as possilbe within the shows time "he's told too". On top of that I've never heard about him in the american music industry away.

The Battle Between Cox, Dish Network and DirecTV

Now I've had both (DirecTV and Cox Communications) as far as what both companies show on their programming to me it's very similar between the two but when it comes to PPV I must admit that DirecTV has the most selection hands down along with more channels to view just because it's satellite TV. Now on the other hand Cox is better by far with continuos programming without errors such as blackouts because of the ground wiring system that they have set-up.

So if you are trying to weigh the options of DirecTV, Cox, or Dish Network there are a few things that should be taken into consideration. DirecTV and Dish Network has alot more HD channels but additional cost plus hey the PPV is 100% better to me. Cox well... what can I say they have the monopoly on the fastest internet service available and way less blackouts and both can provide a bundle package. Also the rumor is that their HD channels are at no additional cost.

EchoStar Communications/Dish Network must stop selling out-of-market station feeds of ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox programming to 800,000 subscribers, according to a nationwide injunction issued by U.S. District Judge William P. Dimitrouleas in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Because of this matter I would not recommend Dish Network at all.

Now there is the option of other companies but at this point and time I wouldn't recommend them.

So if pricing is the issue that do some research to see what best fits your pocketbook. If it's the quality of programming that you are looking for and you are not worried about the price of the bundle packaging then once again you have to see what best suits you.

HD DVD Drive

The new HP Pavilion now has a HD DVD drive that is priced at a pretty penny ($2080). The Pavilion Media Center TV m7690n also includes a TV tuner for recording television showa and movies. The computers second optical drive is a Toshiba SDH802A HD DVD Rom drive which can read HD DVD movie discs the only bummer is you have to run the included HD application seperately, it isn't intergrated with the Media center software. On top of all that it has a 22 inch LCD monitor. The picture is o.k. but to me it is alittle small for the price. This is just my opinion but if the driver was better intergrated maybe just maybe I would pay the request pretty penny that the corporation is asking.

Ash Wednesday?

Lent is about mortality and transformation. We begin the season of Lent on Ash Wednesday with the sign of the cross smeared on our foreheads with ashes as the words are spoken over us, "Dust thou art, and to dust thou wilt return." We begin this season of Lent not only reminded of our death, but also marked for death.
The Lenten journey, with its climax in Holy Week and Good Friday and Easter, is about participating in the death and resurrection of Jesus. Put somewhat abstractly, this means dying to an old identity—the identity conferred by culture, by tradition, by parents, perhaps—and being born into a new identity—an identity centered in the Spirit of God. It means dying to an old way of being, and being born into a new way of being, a way of being centered once again in God.
Put slightly more concretely, this path of death and resurrection, of radical centering in God, may mean for some of us that we need to die to specific things in our lives—perhaps to a behavior or a pattern of behavior that has become destructive or dysfunctional; perhaps to a relationship that has ended or gone bad; perhaps to an unresolved grief that needs to be let go of; perhaps to a career or job that has either been taken from us or that no longer nourishes us; or perhaps even we need to die to a deadness in our lives.
You can even die to deadness, and this dying is also oftentimes a daily rhythm in our lives—that daily occurrence that happens to some of us as we remind ourselves of the reality of God in our relationship to God; that reminder that can take us out of ourselves, lift us out of our confinement, take away our feeling of being burdened and weighed down.
